Aged Man #2
60 x 48 inches
Mixed Media with Acrylic Binder on Canvas

In this collage painting, I integrate Cartier Bresson’s Photograph of an Aged Man, to draw out poignant features that articulate aspects of the human experience. Symbols of authority and end of life are attained with the sturdy bystanders and the seemingly suspended aged man moving forward towards the vehicle.

The aged academic poignantly ties French history with his elaborate hat ancient regime. The buildings in the background also add to Parisian history and symbolism. I have aspired to achieve a depth of symbolism in this painting to demonstrate how perception connects us with our understanding of history and image.
